Colleen Briggs was born in India in 1941 and came to Britain in 1947 when India and Pakistan became independent. She was trained as a secretary at Southend Municipal College and met Howard in1958. They were married in 1964 and have three sons and five grandchildren.  Over the years she supported 
Howard in all his interests  and thoroughly enjoyed being Mayoress in 2001/2.

Richard Briggs
was born in Leigh-on-Sea in 1966 and is executive partner of a large international law firm which he and a friend co-founded in Dubai. He  specialises in shipping and conflict resolution. He is married to Nadia who comes from Russia and has one son, Alexander(12), from his first marriage.
Nicholas Briggs was born in Leigh-on-Sea in 1968 and is a graduate engineer, a chartered accountant and a fluent French speaker. He is financial director of an oil exploration company and lives in Outwood, Surrey. He is married to Mary and they have three sons, Oliver(12), Ben(6), and Toby(6).
Tim Briggs was born in Leigh-on-Sea in 1969 and now lives in Clapham. He has  degrees in English Literature, Social Anthropology and Law. He was formerly an actor and as a TA paratrooper volunteered for service  with 3PARA in Afghanistan. After being called to the bar at Grays Inn he now practises at courts in and around London. He is married to Giuliana who comes from Peru and they have one daughter, Daniella (1).
